Join the Wolves

9Interested in joining the FishHawk Baseball Club?  The FBC Wolves hold tryouts twice per year (December for the Spring Season and July/August for the Fall season).  The one exception is the 12U season which has only one tryout in the Fall as that allows a full-year to fundraise for the 12U Cooperstown tournament.  The tryouts are usually about two hours and each of the players is taken through outfield drills, infield drills and batting.  Pitchers will each throw 10-20 pitches from the mound and Catchers are each taken through a series of position specific drills.

What is the monetary commitment?

For those players that make a FBC Wolves roster they will be required to pay dues in the amount of $425 per season ($850 per year).  These dues cover the organization’s costs for field use (FBC pays the County to use the fields), field maintenance through FYSA, insurance, team registrations, ACES College Tuition Program, professional instruction, and occasional small group pitching, hitting and/or fielding lessons with professional instructors at Ostingers Baseball Academy.  It is expected that the dues would be paid upon accepting a roster invitation but alternative payment arrangements can be arranged.  In addition to the dues the players are also responsible for purchasing their FBC Wolves uniform.  The uniforms typically stay consistent from year-to-year.  The uniforms will consist of a hat, socks/stirrups, grey and white Mizuno Select Short pants, Navy Dry-Fit, Columbia Dry-Fit, Navy Vest and a navy belt.  Total uniform costs are expected to be around $175 for all items listed.  A uniform fitting appointment will be made for all teams after tryouts are completed.

What is the time commitment?

Practices are held at the Fishhawk Sports Complex on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays during the recreational baseball season.  When recreational baseball season is not in session coaches may schedule additional practices at their discretion.  Games will be scheduled by the manager at various venues and through various travel baseball organizations.  Tournaments are usually held on Saturdays and Sundays.  Game times are distributed the week of the tournament (usually on Wednesdays).  General tournament format is 2 pool play games on Saturday and then a single elimination tournament on Sunday.
