FBC Wolves are pleased to announce tryouts for our 8U Machine Pitch team on Sunday August 16th.   Coach Jim Osting will manage this team.

FBC 12U Wolves Live the Dream!

Posted by in Featured | July 1, 2015

FBC 12U Wolves Live the Dream!

The FishHawk Wolves 12U team competed in Cooperstown Week #3 from Jun 20-26.   The boys experienced a week of a lifetime in baseball.   The Cooperstown experience, called by many the Disney of Baseball, was very rewarding for both the boys and the coaches.   The boys advanced to the Final 4 finishing in overall 3rd place, the highest finish by a FBC 12U team!   The mantra of Cooperstown Dreams Park is “Live the Dream” and our 12U boys did just that!

The Wolves completed pool play with a 4-2 record achieving the #30 seed out of104 going into single elimination on Wednesday.   The boys beat the Minooka Rivercats (IL) 5-0, Montreal All-Star (CAN) 23-0, Charlotte Stealth Owls (NC) 20-7, Virginia Mud Cats (VA) 21-5 and loses to the overall #1 seed Team Gwinnett-Dacula (GA) 13-2 and BOCC Warriors (MD) 10-8.

To advance to the Final 4, the Wolves beat the #66 Grossi Baseball (MI) 14-2, #3 Coral Springs Sandlot (FL) 4-0, #14 Delaware Rockets (DE) 10-7, and #11 Saints Baseball (FL) 5-2.   In the Final 4 game, the Wolves faced the #2 seed South Florida Hitmen.   The Wolves took the early lead however the Hitmen tied the game in the 3rd. In the 6th with 2 outs, the Hitmen scored on a base hit walk off to win the game 5-4.   It was an outstanding game and the fans in the stands and watching from the hillside saw a tremendous baseball game. The coaches and the parents could not have been more proud of the boys for their performance in the final game and all week.

The Wolves swung the bats really well hitting .440 as a team and an on base % of .661.   The team hit 31 HRs and scored 116 runs in 11 games. Cole Stallings and Andrew Ura lead the team with 7 HRs each and Cole Stallings lead the team with 17 RBIs.   Gabe Garrett lead the team with an outstanding .880 on base percentage. The Wolves hit 2 Grand Slams by Andrew Garateix and Cole Stallings.

The Wolves pitching all week was outstanding as was the defense.   All 13 players pitched in the event.   The pitching in the bracket play going into the Round of 32, Sweet 16, Elite 8, and Final 4 was outstanding.   Coby Rogerson pitched a 4 inning complete game in a 2 earned run effort against the #66 seed.   Cole Stallings pitched a complete game shutout against the #3 seed in the round of 32 giving up 1 hit and striking out 10.   Ben Cheek, Chris Stine, and Cole Stallings combined for the win against the #14 seed.   Chris Stine was outstanding giving up no runs in 3 innings after Ben Cheek was removed from the game after being struck in the chest by a line drive.   The performance by Chris after that incident was incredible.  Cole Stallings came in to close out the game in the 6th.   Cole Hebel pitched outstanding in the Elite 8 game against #11 seed going 5 innings giving up 5 hits and 2 earned runs. The lefty Cole controlled the running game and picked off 2 runners at 1st base. Cole Stallings closed the game for the Wolves to advance to the Final 4.   In the Final 4 game, Ryan Skelly pitched 5 2/3 innings with a brace on his left hand to protect his broken hand.   It was a gutsy performance by Ryan who had not pitched in over a month due the injury.   The team also saw an outstanding catching performance by Andrew Ura who caught all 5 games in the elimination bracket.

The Wolves did not have an easy route to get into the Championship as we played 3 Florida teams (all in the top 11) in the elimination bracket.   The run by the Wolves was a complete team effort.  Every member of the team competed as their highest level all year and it was great to see them rise to the occasion.   They showed a lot of guts and fire and were extremely disappointed to not make it to the Championship game as they believed they should been there.   It was fun to watch them play at this level and it made for memories of a lifetime.   I think all the players and coaches wish they boys could be 12 again. What an experience!

The team would like to thank all those that supported our fundraising efforts along the way.   We know that many of you were following the team at Cooperstown and thank you for all the support during our run.   It made for a great experience for the team and we look forward to supporting the 12U team next summer as we hope they take the next step to the Championship Game! Go Wolves!
